Are you a service provider or enterprise implementing Hyper-V? You need a solution to security and protect that Hyper-V infrastructure and the critical company applications running inside.

Here are 5 reasons why 5Nine Security Manger is the right choice:

Reason #1 – You Need It

5nine Virtual Firewall controls network traffic between virtual machines (VMs) and allows to manage the security of your Hyper-V environment, programmatically, on per-VM basis. Besides the firewall functionality, the ‘smart Anti-Virus’ detects and blocks malicious activities and improves the security of Hyper-V virtualized environment – without causing capacity bottlenecks.

Reason #2 – Features

-	Controls Network Traffic
-	Security Heartbeat Service
-	Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware protection
-	Bandwidth Throttling
-	Stateful Packet Inspection
-	Deployment options
-	Compliance Audits

Reason #3 – Compliance

Compliance is a crucial piece of any service provider or enterprise. No matter what standards you have to comply with, protecting your virtual infrastructure is a key piece of the puzzle.

Reason #4 – Value

5nine Security Manager is less expensive than the competition and available as a free trial

Reason #5 – Vision

5nine Security Manager is from a visionary in Hyper-V tools and praised by many Virtualization experts. It’s used by leading service providers and large enterprises in their Hyper-V infrastructure.

Just announced, the new 5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V is a highly scalable, fast, easy to use and cost effective backup and replication solution designed specifically for Hyper-V Private Clouds.

Hosting companies, cloud providers, and enterprises using Hyper-V Private Cloud asked us for a simple, fully scriptable and cost effective tool that performs backup and restore. The new 5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V is that tool.

The newly released 5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V is a part of 5nine Cloud Manager for Hyper-V that includes 5nine Cloud Backup, Monitor, Anti-Virus and Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V.

Features include:

Fully Scriptable, with PowerShell API, so the backup system could be easily integrated into Cloud Providers control panel and for end user recovery, as well as any other Cloud Management applications (read API documentation here).

5nine Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V runs on Server 2008 R2/SP1, Server 2008 R2 Core and FREE Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2/SP1.

Operate at the Host level, not the Guest level, allowing for image-based backups that don’t impact running virtual machines or their applications.

Employs Microsoft VSS to ensure that guest OS and VSS-supported application data has backup integrity and allowing you to perform backups anytime, without having a dedicated backup window.

Ability to restore an entire VM, similar to a bare metal restore.

Support for up to a 16 node Hyper-V clusters with hundreds of VMs and CSVs.

Includes a centralized Backup Management console, even at the lowest license level.

For a limited time, a FREE version of 5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V is also available. Its only limitation is that it is limited to sequential backup and restore of virtual machines and doesn’t offer an API.

Server virtualization can dramatically simplify backup and disaster recovery. This is the chance that organizations of all size have been waiting for. It’s time to rethink your disaster recovery and data protection strategy!

5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V is much easier to use and less expensive than legacy tools. By providing data protection and disaster recovery of the virtual infrastructure you will protect your investment in virtualization and save your company from disaster.

Unlike traditional file-based backups, 5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V provides image-based backup. This allows for quick recovery of an entire set of Virtual Machines on demand or at a scheduled time.

With the release of the new 5nine Backup, the 5nine Cloud Manager for Hyper-V suite now includes 5nine Virtual Firewall and Anti-Virus for Hyper-V, 5nine Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V and the new 5nine Cloud Backup for Hyper-V. The 5nine Cloud Manager for Hyper-V suite is the best choice you can use to create the most affordable, secure, and easy-to-maintain Hyper-V infrastructures, while still adhering to Microsoft Best Practices for free, core, and full installations of Hyper-V and Windows Server 2008 R2/R2 SP1.

We welcome your feedback at info@5nine.com!

In this webinar replay, you’ll learn from one of the biggest names in the virtualization world – Greg Shields of Concentrated Technology.

Watch the full webinar, below…

In the webinar, Greg covers:

How monitoring local resources of hosts and VMs is easy

How monitoring private cloud resources is also easy because those resources are still within your control

How monitoring public cloud resources (really just virtual machines) is HARD

To solve the challenge of monitoring VMs in a public cloud, you need tools that:

Aren’t affected by by the status of the host or guest

That can use WMI to gain additional information about the VM guest OS

That aren’t dependent on third-party products or hosting provider software

Offer API and scripting

Are cluster and live-migration aware

Single interface that applies to all hosts and guests

Support both private, public, and hybrid cloud scenarios

5nine’s Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V is the solution to consider

Features and Benefits of Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V Include:

Consolidation of multiple management tools into one, reducing the amount of time spent using and maintaining multiple tools.

Scriptability via REST, OData APIs or PowerShell interface provide seamless integration into Cloud Provider’ management applications.

5nine Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V runs on Server 2008 R2/SP1, Server 2008 R2 Core and FREE Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2/SP1.

Real-time agentless monitoring and historical trending of key performance metrics including CPU, Memory, Network, Disk I/O, and Disk Queues to identify performance issues for hosts and VMs.

Threshold alerting via email to let you know when there is a problem.

Performance dashboard offers the latest information in one place.

Monitoring of selected Services and Ports, providing multiple methods.

5nine Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V is the first piece of our upcoming Cloud Manager product. In conjunction with 5nine Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V, and upcoming 5nine Hyper-V Cloud vBackup – 5nine Cloud Monitor for Hyper-V can be used to create the most affordable, secure, and easy-to-maintain Hyper-V infrastructures while still adhering to Microsoft Best Practices for free, core, and full installations of Hyper-V and Windows Server 2008 R2/R2 SP1.

We, at 5Nine Software, are honored to have reviewed great reviews of our Virtual Firewall product by two distinguished Microsoft “gurus”. Leandro Carvalho a Microsoft MVP in Virtualization wrote a review with Dr Tom Shinder (who has written numerous Microsoft technology books) that discussed how Virtual Firewall fills a much-needed gap when creating a private cloud with Hyper-V technologies.

In Leandro’s article, A Malware and Firewall Protection Solution for the Private Cloud, he talks about how when companies of all sizes set out to create a private cloud, they struggle to find a solution that offers centralized firewall, antivirus, and antispyware. Private clouds must be able to fence off virtual machines (or groups of VMs) for different purposes – production, development, lab, DMZ, or multi-tenant scenarios.

Leandro’s article over on Microsoft TechNet covers how Virtual Firewall is the ideal solution as it provides the necessary features like:

Centralized firewall rule configuration

PowerShell Administration of the Virtual Firewall

Antivurus and Antispyware

Heartbeat service to ensure that rules are really being applied on each VM

Bandwidth throttling

VMware offers their “VMware Converter” to convert from Hyper-V or physical servers to vSphere but they don’t offer any tool to convert back if you aren’t satisfied. Now, you can easily convert from VMware vSphere to Hyper-V, fast, easy, and for free. 5Nine has launched the beta preview of V2V Easy Converter!

This new tool will make the transition from the expensive VMware vSphere to Hyper-V so much easier!

5Nine V2V Easy Converter can take a powered-off VMware vSphere virtual machine and convert that to Hyper-V, faster than you would expect. Today, the vSphere VM has to be “offline” but this tool also doesn’t require you to remove the VM from vSphere. Today, the tool is limited to Windows 2008 (and later) VMs but subsequent releases will support conversion of Windows Server 2003 and later, simultaneous conversions of multiple VMs, as well as ‘reverse’ Hyper-V – to – VMware VMs conversion and fix up.

I tried the tool myself and was impressed with the ease of conversion to Hyper-V (which is, by the way, vTax Free).
